Strength In Hope/Best Buy Concert Quakertown, PA 10/24/10
As the Strength In Hope / Best Buy Concert Tour began widing down for 2010, I joined up with several local artists for an in-store concert At Best Buy Quakertown, PA. Featuring FLINTface, Clashing Plaid, Hiccup Helen, 4-String Diary and yours truly, the rafters were at times shaking, rockin and twanging. What a line up! There is a bunch of talent between the I 95 and I 81 corridors, and I heard some mighty fine playing and singing. Personally, after having retired from playing live performances 16 years ago, I was rather anxious about getting up in front of an audience in the middle of the Quakertown Best Buy, but everyone was so encouraging and supportive that I felt like I was back in 80's Nashville performing at the Bluebird Cafe again. Thanks for that, y'all!
FLINTface, lead singer/drummer, Joe Scorsone, is the founder and President of of Strength In Hope, and he and his lovely wife Beth, along with Steve Belau and Stephanie from Best Buy work long hard hours putting on these shows for litte or no pay. As I have mentioned on the SIH Gigs page, Strength In Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to the cause of spreading depression/suicide awareness and prevention by bringing it out in the open. Their logo is "You are never alone", which from the short time I've known Joe, et al, they are very serious about reaching out to those who are surviving or in the downward spiral that too often leads to suicide.
If you've never seen any of the aforementioned groups in concert, I highly recommend going out to see any one of them when they come your way. That being said, I have put together a slide show of photos of the Quakertown concert below.
